INTRODUCTION

"Guitarras en Malinas" is an intensive five-day workshop for classical guitar enthusiasts of all levels. Participation in master classes, individual lessons and ensembles is organized according to individual skill levels. Regardless of your ability level, this summercourse will improve your technique, style and musicality. Even as a listener you can learn a lot.

The common denominator of "Guitarras en Malinas" is the love for the classical guitar. As in previous years, the participants can count on the unremitting enthusiasm and know-how of maestra Raphaella Smits. These workshops are always a captivating experience and the overture to lifelong friendships.

Mechelen is this year's chosen location. Mechelen was once the capital of the Netherlands, at the time of the celebrated governess, the Duchess Margaret of Austria (1480-1530). The rich history of Mechelen - the city is more than 1000 years old - can still be seen in the old center and the many historical buildings. A stay in Mechelen stays with you.

Who is eligible?
This is a summer course for serious classical guitar enthusiasts. Raphaella Smits determines who is eligible for the master classes and whom for individual lessons. Guitar duos, trios and quartets are encouraged to participate.

When?
The workshop starts on Tuesday morning August 16, 2016 and ends on Saturday night August 20, 2016.

Where?
The workshop will be held in the city of Mechelen (BE) at the Hotel Vé (Member of Mercure Hotels / Accor Group).

Hotel Vé is a 4-star design hotel in the nicest square of Mechelen: the old fish market. Vé is housed in a former fish smokehouse and an old cigar factory. For the interior decoration the unique personality of the old factory buildings was preserved, and combined with modern architecture and contemporary luxury. A personal approach and a brand new wellness center ensure an unforgettable experience.

Daily schedule:
10:00-13:00 – lessons, 13:00-16:00 – break, 16:00-19:00 lessons. The schedule is indicative: it will be adjusted according to the number of students and the specific needs.

How to register?
Complete the online application form. If you take part as a guitar duo, trio or quartet, then each group member must fill out a separate form.
If you have any question, send an email to Academix. After you’ve been accepted as a participant, you will receive a confirmation.

Costs?
The workshop costs € 350 (incl. € 50 non-refundable registration fee). This cost covers the tuition and refreshments, it does not include housing or meals. Early birds who register before March 31, 2016 enjoy a reduction of € 50 on the balance.

Payment:
After receiving confirmation of your participation, you can pay the registration fee through PayPal to academix@ymail.com. The balance is due no later than June 30, 2016.

Cancel?
If you cancel before July 15, the payment will be refunded, minus the € 50 registration fee.

Housing:
Hotel Vé offers the participants of 'Guitarras en Malinas' the possibility of a comfortable stay at € 75 per night for a single room or € 95 for a double room. The beautiful rooms feature a luxurious bathroom, free WIFI, air conditioning, a 42 "LCD TV, laptop size safe, coffee and tea facilities. Included is also a delicious buffet breakfast and in the morning free access to the wellness center (sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and swimming pool).

Meals:
For lunch and dinner, you can easy find in the vicinity of the hotel a wide choice of dining options for every budget.

Travel Information:
The city of Mechelen is located halfway between Brussels and Antwerp. The city is easily accessible by public transportation (train and bus) or by car.
