ABOUT THE COMPOSER
WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY

This LP (long playing) is not available anymore. It has become a valuable collectors item!

ABOUT THE COMPOSER

Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco was born in Florence (IT) in 1895. Before his twentieth year he was one of Italy's top-composers, admired throughout Europe.
When the Fascists launched their anti-semitic campaign in 1939 he emigrated with his family to the United States. When he died in Los Angeles in 1968 he left us a most impressive body of works, including 6 opera's, 5 oratoria, many orchestral works including overtures to 11 Shakespearean plays, more than 100 piano works, more than 400 songs, more than 10 choral works and an enormous number of chamber works in which he utilised settings of great diversity.
Tedesco was one of the most succesful composers for the guitar: it started in 1932 meeting Andres Segovia in Venice. His last work 'Appunti', a series of preludes, dance suites and studies for the guitar, remainded unfinished.

WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY

Arnold Brand wrote:

Emma Scott from <De Nieuwe Gazet> wrote:
